Didn't We

Didn't We is set to return on a NATIONAL TOUR - dates and venues to be confirmed! Watch this space!!!

Commissioned in 2007 by the Royal Exchange Theatre, 2toned have created "Didn't We", an exploration of body language during an evening of drinking and laughter. This is an analysis of physical attraction, young lovers and the human ability to blend in with the crowd (or not).

Since performing during the Not Part of Festival 2009 Didn't We is the winner of the Forever Manchester award presented by Citylife.co.uk

The following showreel contains strong language and could cause offense to some viewers!

Didn’t We is a site-specific theatre performance exploring the body language of physical attraction between humans. This piece takes place in and around the audience challenging their tolerance for close proximity performance and testing the performer’s adaptability.

Two actors dramatically present snippets of a relationship that is crumbling, the opening scene develops into a full blown argument about a mundane packet of prawn cocktail crisps. This is only the start and represents the bigger issues bubbling to the surface.

Interweaved between the layers of narrative the performance develops a presentation explaining ‘Tells’, subtle but detectable changes in physical behaviour during communication. Along with this is a discussion between the actors about which flirting techniques work and using mannequins, in part, to demonstrate this.

Audience Reaction

"I was interested in how the relationship had got to the state it was in and how the story would unfold and what it would lead to" (Paul Tucker - Manchester)

"I really liked the way that the individual sides were retold to the audience" (Ruth Beighton - Manchester)

"How the scene would just pause and you were given a very clear, honest and sometimes brutal account of what that individual felt and thought, very exciting"(Melissa Higson - Bolton)

"The power of the performances and the material was such that it could certainly make you relive the drama (if something similiar had happened to you ) or be able to place yourself in that situation (if it hadn't)"(Bryony Crayne - Bolton)
