About 2toned Theatre
2toned Theatre was started in 2005 by James Edgington and Lydia Benjamin. The concept of this theatre company was to mix scripted work with physical theatre and devise performance that is entertaining yet, in part, poingant. This has not changed, however 2toned has some new blood. Martina Murphy has stepped into the role of 2toned Theatre partner, and along with James they blossom and are creating new work that is engaging and thought provoking...
2toned Theatre create work using their research of psychology, body language and human performance, all of which are present in the world and relate back to human behavior. Human relationships are constantly happening and changing bringing love, friendship, resentment, revenge and arguments to the world, along with many other factors.
Our work is a presentation of this kind of behavior and signifies that no matter what race, sexuality, gender or other variable we are all human and show physical emotions as well as verbal ones.
Our practice doesn’t single out any one type of person, it doesn’t discriminate and it doesn’t hold society on a pedestal, 2toned simply create performance accessible for people who have lived. It doesn’t aim to shock, it simply combines emotions that we go through with exaggerated physical presentation and the audience leaves thinking about many things, in a way it turns a mirror on our audiences and asks questions of them.
